917 Wind Vest

917

The 917 colourway is inspired by the Gulf Oil racing colourway and, specifically, the Porsche 917 driven by Steve McQueen in the classic 1971 film Le Mans. We've paired a slightly lighter duck egg blue and papaya orange for our tribute on the famous racing livery. Oil splatters and Armco scrape marks not required! We introduced this colourway on some of our cold weather kit and it's proved so popular we decided to launch it on warm weather kit too so you can now wear the iconic Gulf Oil racing look all year round.

KOMRAID high-performance, lightweight wind vests.

The wind vest is one of those items we can't live without. It’s an essential for chilly early starts, coffee stops or to carry if changeable weather turns against you. A lightweight, high-wicking vest that packs down neatly into a back pocket is a must-have for at least 9 months of the year.

We have included 3 pockets on our wind vest. We know you'll have pockets on the jersey underneath but this gives you the option of putting your gels, bars, phone etc somewhere you can easily get at them without having to perform that on-the-move, self-pickpocketing thing behind your back – that can easily send you into a ditch! If you don't need them, the pockets are cut so they sit neatly without annoying bagging when empty.

We know from experience that a poor-fitting, flapping vest might keep the worst of the wind off you but is incredibly distracting at speed. Nobody wants to sound like a spinnaker in a force 8 gale, so our vest is a close cut design. It employs side panels with a degree of elasticity to really hug your body on the bike without constraining movement.

We've consulted a lot of cyclists and done a great deal of personal testing on all our kit, As a result, we know that the collar is a crucial component of a wind vest. If it’s too high it annoys or overheats you. Too loose, it flaps and lets wind in. Too tight and you feel like you're being strangled. We've got the collar just right on our wind vest, avoiding these irritations and ensuring that even if your legs are screaming, it won't be your kit that spoils the ride!

We know that judging the sizing of cycling clothing can be tricky. The key measurements of each size are given in the table below. We suggest you compare these measurements against clothing you already have to help you choose the right size for you.

IMPORTANT: Our clothing is ‘race fit’ and is designed to be worn skin tight for maximum aero benefit. If you are at the top end of a size range and/or want a more relaxed fit, we would advise that you go to the next size up.
